Im so looking forward to being able to contribute to The Alonga Project to get a container load of goodies over to Tonga. When I visited the Alonga Centre earlier this year with Jackie, Mia and the team of global leaders I was initially quite uncomfortable. Having never been involved with people with a mental disability before I didnt know how to relate to these people but it didnt take long for me to have empathy for the simplicity of the lives they lead, for the lack of basic living standards that us in the western world take for granted and for the never ending job that Lovinia has in looking after these souls 24*7*52. When we looked around and saw the dirty beds and linen they sleep on, a kitchen with not enough cutlery, crockery and basic appliances and things falling apart or broken, I felt we must do something to help them out. No-one deserves to live this way. So Im with you Jackie to do what I can to help gather some new and 2nd hand goods and get it over to Tonga which would make such a difference to them.
