Reflections on The Potter & the clay from Jeremiah 18:1-4 5 August 2011 at 11:23 In Jeremiah 18:1-4 we read of the potter who had to remake his vessel because it had been marred. That is the pircture of us in the hands of the Lord, the Master Potter:) I like to depict the following pictures to you. There is this potter & he is using the clay to mold a vessel that he has already thought of. Like the shape of the vessel, the colour, the details & what he wants to use it for. After he mold the clay, if he is not pleased with its shape, he will just smash it again until he mold the vesel that he is pleased. After molding the vessel that he desires, he will put inside the kiln to make it solid & hard. When the vessel is in the kiln, he will shout, it is enough, I cant take it & then the potter will look at his watch & said it is not time yet for you to come out. After a while, he takes out the vessel & he is pleased with it, then he starts to put the colours & the furnishing details on the vessel. When he is pleased with all the furnishings, he put it under the sun for it to dry & brightens it for good use. Dont you think it is a great analogy to us as the children of God, He is our Potter & we are the clay. He will mold us to the vessels that He wants to use us. After molding us, the heat represents the trying & testing times we need to go hrough before we can be that perfect vessel for Him to use. Many times, the trying & testing times are to make us strong & having depths of knowing the Lord. Much as we hated it but we all need it so that we will be strong & not shallow christians. So the question for us is are we vessels of honour or dishonour but one thing I believe that when God mold us is to be vessels for His glory. For we are Gods workmanship created in Christ Jesus that we may do those good works which God predestined for us that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10 May this song be a prayer for us to God: Change my heart Oh God, make it ever true, change my heart oh God, may I be like you. You are the Potter, we are the clay, mold me & change me, this is what I pray:)
