1/21 afternoon update: We just completed the motor mapping procedure that used the electrode grid inserted in yesterdays procedure. The doctors were able to confirm that the area of the dysplasia is no where near the motor cortex area of the brain that controls left side movement. This is wonderful news to us and the doctors because it allows the surgeon to develop a very aggressive plan of attack to remove the dysplasia without fear of causing damage to any critical motor functions. We are very pleased to learn this and so is Ellas neurological team. Now, we wait for the surgery. We are on the schedule for a 3-4 pm start. As we have learned this may change but we are completely ready. I guess you could say todays news is the best news we have received in about 3.5 weeks since this all started!!!! Tonight we ask for Ella to be able to rest comfortably in preparation for a big day ahead of her tomorrow. We will update in the morning and throughout the day tomorrow.
