1. LIBRARY RULES AND REGULATIONS The concept of Rules and Regulations is to facilitate equitable access and use as well as care of the Library Information Materials necessitating an element of fines. Hence, the library users to each registered user a copy of the rules and regulations. A. GENERAL RULES 1. All library users who enter the Main Library are required to exit through the electronic surveillance system gate before passing the Security checkpoint. 2. Moving Library furniture around is considered willful damage to University property and offenders are liable for repair and further disciplinary action will be taken against them. 3. All library users required to produce University of Zambia valid ID card for identification at the main library entrance. Any other user from somewhere else will be required to produce valid ID card/National ID card/Passport etc. 4. All library users will be required, when leaving the Library, to present all the materials in their possession to the Security officer on duty for inspection. 5. Littering with wasted papers, sweet wrappings, chewed gums etc, is prohibited in the library. 6. Smoking, eating, drinking and sleeping are not allowed in the library. 7. Order and silence must be observed at all times in the Library. Cell phones ought to remain turned off in the Library. Use of cell phones within the Library will attract a fine of K20, 000.00 or as determined by Senate Library Committee. 8. Library users should not take bags, briefcases or coats into the Library beyond the security check point since a cloakroom area has been delineated in the Main Library foyer for safe custody of personal items. In such cases the bags or briefcases will be liable for inspection when the reader leaves the library.
