1 light year is the distance light can travel in vacuum in one year’s time. This distance is equivalent to roughly 9,461,000,000,000 km or 5,878,000,000,000 miles. Now am watching this documentary about galaxies and it states that scientists discovered a galaxy which is 1 billion light years away, and am thinking, why the heck they should even bother to try and study anything about it? Its pretty obvious that humanity will never get to it. Leave it alone and focus on finding the missing plane
