10/13 Race Report: The delay to getting on the track for a race team testing proved to be beneficial as there was a fair amount of rubber on the track, meant some record fast lap times! Baja Modifieds were up first and the field all turned laps under 7.9 seconds with Aaron The Stig Leinemann turning in a lap of 7.63, still not faster than his own record lap time of 7.54 set several weeks ago. The 75 lap feature was fast and furious with only a few cautions, but battles were constant for the top spot throughout the race. Leinemann, Chuck Eccles and Making his Debut at JSRCR, Barry Braman put on a show of hard racing and sportsmanship. It looked like once again the Stig was on his way to another win when he was out front with less than 10 laps to go until he tangled with eccles bringing out a caution. this setup a sprint to the finish with Braman out front. Leinemann made a move splitting Eccles and Braman to take over the lead on the last lap taking his 12th win of the season followed by Braman and Eccles! Not to be outdone the Sportsman stock cars took to the track as the sun was about to set. with the whole filed turning laps under 8 seconds! Jim Jensen Started up front leading Trevor Kapit to the green. Jensen looked like he was going to cruise to victory as his car was hooked up turning a record lap of 7.56 on lap 21. Dave Carpenter had worked up from his fifth starting spot turning a lap of 7.63 with Barry Braman on his heels turning an even faster record lap of 7.50! Braman would slip by Carpenter for second before both would be involved in a caution putting them at the rear and having to work up to the front once again. With five laps left Braman tangled with Jensen putting Carpenter out front for the restart. With no lapped cars in between Jensen lined up second, and was able to get a nose under Carpenter off turn two on the last lap, Carpenter tried to crossover coming to the line but his car was too free and he spun crossing the line backwards. Jensen, took his second Checkered of the season! Braman in his first race finished third, Joel Kapit, and Trevor Kapit rounded the top 5. A tentative Fall Schedule is in the works for JSRCR to include open track days and race days as weather permits! Stay tuned to the Facebook page for updates! facebook/JerseyShoreRCRacing
