10/20/13 I want to say hello and thanks to my new friends - TopicsExpress

10/20/13 I want to say hello and thanks to my new friends for coming on board. Stay tuned and check out my wall where there’s lots of subjects for discussion. Meanwhile I’m back in the Bronx at this hideaway I hang on to. The chicks name for our sake is Veronica, an old female friend and we sort of dig each other. When I go she doesn’t sweat it, she had a life before me. She knows something about how I live and stays out of it which is one of the reasons I dig her. Notch calls my cell later and while we’re talking business he drops as an afterthought that he heard my other sister is in the hospital down in Atlanta. I’m speechless. That explains where my young sis, Charli might be and I feel some relief. I relax until I reason out that Louise my older sis is sort of the family matriarch. If Charli went to see her down in Atlanta then some of the other family members might be down there also. All them Loxes in one place doesn’t sound like the best idea… a delusion if it wasn’t betrayed by documentation and witnesses: fourteen contracts on me in Brooklyn; two families of slaves and experiments…; also if I wasn’t walking around with a bullet lodged in my arm and tell tail scares. It’s downright tragic that a lack of cash curtails my movements in scenarios like these but it comes down to simple math. When you do good, you’re bound to step on some toes. The more good you do the more toes you step on and things happen. It’s night and there’s a cool soaking rain coming down outside. I’m ignoring the Dodgers take down Saint Louis looking out past the rain into the blackness of the park across the street. A high pitched voice, raspy with Seagram’s, “What’s a matter honey? Poor baby’s sad he can’t go out an play with his thug friends? Oh I’m sorry it’s a “crew thing”.” Veronica’s dark skinned and almost chubby and swings her shapely legs in a wide angle up on the sofa. Probably did it on purpose. “It’s ok you can stay inside and play here.” She winks at me over her glass but my solemn mood sees a car slowing down in the street outside her two family house. I have the remote in my hand and the TV goes blank. “Babe, put out the light next to you.” “Oh my, here we go with this stuff again. I’m tired...” But the light goes out as she trounces into the bedroom. Veronica’s mature and I’ve intervened for her personally… so she knows at least some of how I live is legit and doesn’t really squabble. I appreciate that. The person(s) in the car seems to be trying to figure out the house numbers in the dark. It looks small through the rain. They find our house, checks out the windows then pulls off. It has a tan top. For a hot second I’m stunned. The Sebring has a tan top. Why Dan… and if it’s not him then who? And if it is him what’s he doin? No relief… even with new pieces to the puzzle. Got to protect my family and maintain the integrity of thirty years of work while I try to get paid somehow. If my adversaries (the cats that want to beat me out of my earnings and/or the cats whose toes I stepped on) take my reputation down which is what it seems someone is trying to do, many of those successes can be compromised. I don’t think anyone wants to terminate me but I do think someone may have gotten careless. Nonetheless, I need to get paid in order to balance things. If one still has to ask why ... they should ask instead; if I did all the things I said I did over a thirty year period, how much is that worth? I probably won’t get to sleep so I decide to settle for some rest. Veronica, rolled up in a ball says with her back to me, “Saw your sister today.” I sit still, wondering if I heard her correctly. “Where did you see her?” “In the supermarket with this girl I used to see her with years ago. Doris or something.” “Delores, they were childhood friends. What time did you see them?” “Who are you “Ironsides” or something? Round one o’clock… looked like they were coming from playing tennis.” I kissed her afro. I decide to drive out there tomorrow. But right now I’m a little relieved and wanna get some dose. “You forgettin somethin?” the voice came low and raspy. Then my mind went to Louise down in Atlanta, Charli’s patio and her supposed retirement and the car that stopped in front of the house. Not to mention someone’s tryin to starve me to death and they’re hot on my tail with ill intentions and all because I delivered the goods as asked of me, face to face. “We’ll get to that later babes. Don’t want you wakin up the neighbors and what not.” “Did the negro go there? Shucks, I make you yodel.” “…and in harmony too!” We laughed and snuggled up. The rains low cadence hitting up against the windowpanes lulled us to sleep. Leslie Lox on Nilopub “RoadWindows” and “Potent Enterprise are both available on Amazonkindle and for 2.99 each. Best deal in town right now. Also tell your “crew” about what we do here. Need FB friends and Twitter followers. It gets better. See you on Wednesday.
