10% base pay is inadequate - NAGRAT Comments ( 0 ) National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has described the 10% increment in base pay of teachers and other government workers as inadequate. “It is absolutely inadequate but then since that is the agreed percentage, we are willing to work with it for now” he said. NAGRAT and other government workers had demanded a 15 % increment but according to government it can only afford 10 percent. But the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations announced that the 2013 Base Pay of teachers and other government workers has been increased by 10 per cent from GH¢4.84 to GH¢5.32. Speaking to Citi News Vice President of NAGRAT, Angel Kabunu said “they would negotiate with authorities from next week the modalities of paying the back pay” since the “10% agreed on last week is supposed to take effect from January.” He explained that since government has indicated that it cannot pay everything in a goal, certain modalities need to be put in place.
