10 crore defamation notice to Principal Secy Vigilance Now will the Government decide who is a social activist or not? At least, in its counter affidavit filed as regards the PIL filed by me against bringing the Vigilance Department out of RTI ambit, the UP Government suo-motu declared that she is not a social activist. The Affidavit filed by Swami Nath Pandey, Under Secretary, Vigilance Department says that the petitioner has presented the instant PIL with ulterior motive, as she is not indulged in the field of transparency, but she, being the wife of police officer, Amitabh Thakur, wants to gather knowledge about the bureaucrats in their own interests. The affidavit also says that the petitioner has wrongly claimed to be social activist without any basis. The affidavit says that these facts based on official documents. To this I have sent a legal notice under section 80, CPC to R M Srivastava, Principal Secretary, Vigilance and Pandey requesting them to present the facts on which they made such statements. In case of failure, a Rs. 10 crore defamation notice has also been sent.
