10 ways to avoid holiday weight gain: 1. Get moving - exercise and dont skip out on the gym with all of the holiday hoopla going on. Park further away from the store, take the stairs, etc. 2. Select healthy first! Try to fill up on the healthy items first (lean means and veggies) before digging into the not-so-healthy items. 3. Try the one-a-day program. Limit yourself to one small indulgence per day. 4. Control the risk for temptation. Stay away from the break room if you know its filled with donuts and cookies all throughout the holiday season. 5. Never go to a party hungry! 6. Exercise in small bursts throughout the day! Add an extra 15 minutes of walking to your normal workout routine. 7. Stay away from the couch! Instead of sitting on the couch with family and friends, try different activities that will get you moving! Bowling, hiking, strolling the mall, biking, etc. 8. Watch out for those liquid calories. All of the egg nog and other spirits add up. 9. Set your own limits. Dont have seconds or try food at parties just to please the hostess. 10. Focus on socializing at parties, not the food.
