10 years ago, I was sitting in a room with 15,000 people. A Crown Ambassador (he had a private jet - well leave it there) got up on stage, and said this: Every 5 years - we have an upswing in growth, and I get richer, and richer. Every 5 years, we have a downswing in growth - and every time we do, we have a purging where people leave the team. Ive been doing this for 25 years, and its happened five times. When Im here for 50 years - it will have happened ten times. Heres the key - the people that leave during the downswing lose all of the momentum and loyalty theyve created --- and they always want to come back in the upswing - and some of them do. When they do, they have to start over at zero. My greatest talent, if there is a source of the power Ive developed over the years, is this: My consistency. Im here when its up, and Im here when its down. And when its down - I only get more excited. Because I know whats coming next, and have enough faith and vision to see the power in the future. Mark my words: If you arent on the beaches of the world with me in 5 years, its not because I quit on you - its because you gave up on me. Wise words. As we step into a phase of creating something bigger and more powerful than any of us imagined even in the greatest peak of our growth - I mourn for those that in the last 7 months have distracted away a future that is greater than they could have possibly imagined.
