11:00 AM... Bill Oetkens vitals were running pretty high all night but thankfully this morning they are all back to normal. His sedation medicine (propofol) has been in 100% since coming into the ICU in Monday. This morning they dropped it down to 50% to see if he would follow commands, which he did. They left it there for a bit so I could talk with him and he would understand me. I told him I loved him and he squeezed my hand really hard! He was sweating a little so I uncovered his feet. I asked him if he wanted me to rub his feet a little and he tipped his head to the side and raised his eyebrows and shrugged his shoulders which means Sure if you want to LoL! His eyes didnt open but it was so great to be able to communicate with him even just a little. Then they raised it back up to 90% so he is back into a deep sleep again to continue to rest while the swelling goes down. They also have him on fentanyl for pain. The Dr removed the the dressing and drain tube from his incision and said it looks really good. My mother in-law left this morning to go back home to Arizona. She hated to leave but I told her with all the support I have...I got this!
