I too earned less than that, worked 3/4 time, and went to school 3/4 time (and am still paying for it via student loans 10 years later), and after 6 years I earned a B.A. degree and found a career after 9 more months of post-graduation job hunting. Finding something better is the merger of motivation, preparation, and opportunity...you cant just be given the opportunity. If you want that kind of system, move to Cuba; Im sure they love it there, except for the droves who keep trying to escape that socialist hellhole and risk their lives at sea in rickety canoes to get to the USA.
