We will not be free until APLA is free * As we all applaud the reconciliation that our country and forgave people like De Koch and other the one glaring factors that slips under the radar is the continued incarceration of APLA operatives. If our erstwhile liberation forces were so willing to give torturers and murderers forgiveness one has just got to question why wasnt APLA cadres forgiven; why do they still languish in jails to this day 20 years after our supposed liberation. One begins to get the feeling that our forgiveness was a sham dictated to by the forced exiting power; that if they did exit. We can forgive corrupt people like Schabir Shaik but not APLA? Something stinks to high heaven and is the elephant in the room we just dont want to talk about. APLA did not invade our country they are the very heroes who fought to liberate it and somehow there is a conspiracy to render them silent and invisible and this by both the media and the politicos. To us the people APLA is a revolutionary force that contributed to our liberation and equal to MK and its fighters. It is a tragedy that even MK veterans can forget them when they were in fact comrades in arms and fought the same battle against the same enemy. Have we gotten a selective amnesia in the face of an expedience demanded by the oppressors in their negotiations with the powers that be. The fate of APLA cadres is indicate of a deeper malaise in our country and a betrayal and surrender of the revolution; reconciliation is a lie as long as APLA is behind bars and rendered invisible. As Africans we must have the principle of Ubuntu and show those who struggled for us our gratitude and get them released not throw them in some dungeon and forget them even as we fleece the coffers that they helped liberate. every African that is worth his salt must raise a fist and demand that APLA be released and applauded rather than criminalised and traumatised. The struggle had many heroes and APLA is one of those heroes. We cannot do to APLA what the Apartheid regime did to Mandela; we are better than that ; we are African and in our hearts is Ubuntu. Release the APLA cadres now or our Uhuru has not happened; it is a lie based on deceit and subservience to the oppressive forces of Apartheid. Just as we will not be free until Palestine is free so shall we not be free until APLA is free. Justice delayed is no justice at all Amandla rassool snyman
