12.21.14. HAPPY SOLSTICE!! It was two years ago today that our end was upon us. Unlike many end of the world predictions before it; this was different. Three cultures were predicting it within the interpretations of calendars they created. Were still here, we didnt end. So then what was it? Simply the end of an age, or something else? Something bigger than one can even comprehend? Id like to believe the latter. I believe at the very time we stopped partnering with the earth and started destroying it, we lost the ability to see and hear our host. I believe with the invention of modern earth monitoring equipment, such as satellites, and Doppler we are trying to substitute technology where intuition once provided all the information we need. Even today with the Climate Change Debate the unevolved are attempting substitute data for what our eyes can see. Maybe in this Age of Aquarius, we have awakened. When you consider what the internet facilitates, we have the ability to share in a common knowledge uncontrolled and uncensored by the messenger. Three different cultures shared the same knowledge across thousands of miles and vast expansions of water without mode of modern communication or transportation. The nomads followed nature and respected its cycles out of the need for our own survival working within the constraints afforded us by our host. Today we have the ability to share a common idea within milliseconds, organize masses, and the forum to debate. However, with this new mode of communication the messengers are no longer chosen based on their knowledge or their ability to represent a culture. No talent required. Ironic when you think about it. Probably one of the biggest ironies in the history of modern man. Entire cultures are gone, in part caused by their inability to communicate the warnings to the masses. If one person jumped on their Iphone and tweeted... Mt. Vesuvius is going to erupt SOON! Would there have been as large a toll on life at Pompeii? Today, we have the internet. That disability has been overcome. The warnings are communicated by many. The proof is there. Yet, now we are paralyzed by debating the message as those with their own agendas have a forum to be heard. So much for progress. Were still dying because we have yet to accept three basic truths. 1. We cannot harness or control our environment. 2. We cannot sustain life on unsustainable resources. 3. Our arrogance has been the primary cause of our destruction. In the new Solstice we are once again facing an inevitable end. However, this time the internet is our alarm clock, and the masses have the tools to awaken. We can see what is happening around us if we simply look. There is no need for debate, belief, or blind faith. The tools have been provided us to repair the damage and once again partner with our host. Simply look around. Your visibility has been expanded by the images shared by your friends separated by thousands of miles and vast expansions of water. If you look hard enough the solution is clear. We have the power to change if we accept the 3 truths and work within these parameters and create a balance. That balance is attained when we as humans use sustainable resources to live and prosper in our environments without destroying them. If we use our intelligence to focus on developing technologies to utilize sustainable resources, in place of unsustainable fossil fuels we have earned our right to evolve. There is one obstacle preventing our evolution as a species and it is one we cannot control or mask for very long. Fossil fuels do not regenerate. Everything around us from what we build to how we power them depends on resources we are running out of. Evolution runs out of gas. Living in our world instead of living on it is the solution. We must work with our host instead of trying to conquer our host. Our key to evolution is in the creation of a bioeconomy. One where the resources are not controlled by the few, but grown by many. The power to create it is already in our hands, and in our wallets. It is not within our budgets to purchase wind turbines, or solar panels. We must expand the “green” conversation beyond energy to the materials we use to build. Your voice will be heard without speaking a word. Your vote will be cast without a ballot. When we start buying consumer products made of biomaterials the dollars that finance the debate and our destruction will go away. Happy Solstice. We do not need everyone to awaken. We must only provide for those still asleep. -ACS & ES
