12 years ago I was a brand new Deputy on afternoon shift in Canaveral. I was young and still trying to figure out the basics of law enforcement but I could always count on FTO Darrel Conner to help me work my way through paperwork with a smile. I also appreciated all those times you came out to the sally port to help me get a combative canaveralite out of the backseat of my car with those 22 inch pythons you had strapped to both sides of your body. Your legacy could be seen in numbers over the past few days as your friends and family searched for you. Martin Luther King Jr. once said “If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.” You did your job well DC and it reflects in the actions of everyone you touched over the years!!!! Rest in peace brother!!!
