13 years ago this morning my biggest worries were why do I have to go to class this early? and Why does this professor think its cool to use Nelly lyrics to explain Contract Law?. I had no idea that morning that when I walked out of Rader Hall on Moreheads campus that the whole world was going to be a different place. After I went back to my dorm room, I turned on the TV, and after an hour or so of news footage, I turned over to VH1, which still played music in those days. On an almost continuous loop was a song I had never heard before that point playing over news footage of the tragedies that were taking place in New York and Washington. The song has since gone on to be almost omnipresent in every dramatic finale on television, so much that it has become cliche, but that day, it seemed right. In the darkness of that day, in the days that followed, I saw people, on MSUs campus and around the country, people of all faiths, nations, political persuasions come together as one and say, that even if it is cold and broken, we would still sing a hallelujah chorus and dedicate ourselves to seeing that justice will be done and that we would all be working together to create something greater than what was there before. #NeverForget
