14 July 2014 Gracious God, we pray for the thirty men, women and children from the village of Astapukur in northwest Bangladesh who last week became sick from food poisoning. Sixteen required hospitalization because of dehydration. The epidemic began after a summer wedding feast at the village, which has no refrigeration and where food is prepared on straw mats and dishes are washed in a communal pond. Few of the villagers have access to water-sealed, sanitary latrines. Lord, comfort those who are ill and help them fully recover, and grant the people of Astapukur the ability to prevent such outbreaks in the future. In the name of Christ the Redeemer we pray.
