14 (sigh...) facts about myself courtesy of Kim Sieber (Thanks Kim :P ) 1. I am horribly, cripplingly terrified of needles. Anytime theres a syringe and needle in a movie or TV show, my entire body tenses up and I suffer a million deaths in the matter of seconds. I passed out during a TB test. True story. 2. I am an honorary Jew. I was a camp counselor for Camp Yofi for the Jewish Community Center in Irvine. They had a program called life cycles and I was the chosen male to demonstrate the whole kitten-kabootle of Jewish life phases. Shabbot Shalom, Ill lead everyone in the Birkat Hamazon now *HEADDESK* *HEADDESK* *HEADDESK* 3. About a month ago, I drove through Colorado City on the border of Arizona and Utah, home of FLDS polygamists. I saw the Big Love tailored ladies in their braids walk into a Craigos pizza. Some of them were having a yard sale. All of the houses were super-sized. It was really, really creepy. 4. To this day I havent seen an episode of Lost or Dr. Who. 5. There is currently copies of What Happens Next: A History of American Screenwriting, I Lost it at the Movies by Pauline Kael, and A Writers Reference on my desk along with too many pieces of paper with my chicken scratches on them. I have also axed down my door. 6. I saw the remake of Carrie last night. Chloë Grace Moretz needs to work in not flaring her nostrils when looking scared/disgruntled/worried/concerned/or-any-emotion-come-to-think-of-it. Brian DePalma is rolling in the grave that is his career. 7. I think Frank Reynolds from Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia is a Philosopher King as Plato described. 8. Free Masons are hilarious. Any secret society really. Any place that makes you dress up in special clothing and to do really serious things is just silly. Free-Masons look like chefs with silly aprons. This isnt a fact about me but its a well-known fact in general. 9. There is not a day that goes by that somebody doesnt say, HEY! YOU LOOK LIKE HARRY POTTER! Thats a good thing, Ive come to realize. But I also look like Tom Everett Scott (more-so, IMHO). 10. If I could fight anybody in history living or dead, it would be Chris Vogler and Blake Snyder (him especially). I would say Syd Field, but considering he died today thats probably in bad taste. These guys are worse than the Auteur Theorists; your reign of simplistic structuralist platitudes will come to an end, you hear me! Screenwriter rant over. 11. youtube/watch?v=geNyk3w90O4 12. Life is pretty damn cool. Im grateful for that. 13. A couple things Im excited to see within my lifetime: 3D-Printers, driver-less cars; improvement and implementation of AI; robotic replacing large sections of labor (i.e. lawyers); quantum computing; nanotechnology use in medicine; Occulus Rift (though Im not a gamer its still pretty cool); the technology of Avatar, motion and facial capture, being streamlined into a commercial package making giant blockbuster CG films a living room venture (when computers can render graphics more efficiently); augmented reality; mapping the human brain; synthetic biology; and significant increase in lifespan. Stuff like this gets me up in the morning. 14. Ive been a vegetarian since July of this year and havent looked back.
