15th December 2014, 19:37 It nearly will be a year since Michael Schumacher encountered a heavy skiing accident in Grenoble, France. This indeed remains a very deep and sensitive issue for somebody to talk about and therefore, I will try not be explicit. At the same time it brings forward the bitter irony that we people encounter in our daily lives when a racing driver becomes prey to sometimes outside a 4 wheels environment. For many of us (including myself), Michael has always been an icon who drove a red car to 5 consecutive championships and who at time seemed to be very difficult to cope with. I shall not dwell in the cringeworthy moments that the German had. I never seen Michael driving a Benetton nor winning his 3rd World Championship and despite the fact that Formula One remains something remotely popular in my country, I witnessed the Schumi-mania whether in the market where fake Ferrari caps were being sold like legends or in the newspaper where the sport division happened to fancy an article about F1 when football was out of the map. Fortunately, I had the chance to see him taking a pole in Monaco and the last podium in Valencia back in the 2012 season. His accident to me was a moment which brought together many racing fans (not only F1 fanatics) together in support to each other after incident. It was also experience to what extent social media can go; we all remember the users trying to find more information but also the bastards who were writing rubbish and running fake Vettel Twitter accounts which CNN and Euronews fell for. Personally, I did slept late that 29th December mostly due to the boring festive spirit of the heat but also as I was translating websites article from French into English whether statements from Panis to the first press conference that followed. The weeks that followed were of agony and anxiety for most of us and surprisingly, the local mainstream media started to pick the story up; the radio and the visual media were relaying articles, statements which I found to be a testimony to the legend named Michael Schumacher. Surely, we all hope that Michael recovers as much as possible and as soon as possible and with that have a good evening.
