17/6/14, UN Headquarters, New York, nirbhoygram: Nirbhoy Didi Sreerupa Mitra Chaudhury attended Global Day of Parents commemorative event to signify 20th anniversary of international year of family. The event was put together by the UN permanent representative of Grenada, Egypt, El Salvador, Indonesia, Nigeria and Romania. The event highlighted the plight of families in poverty and conflict. Noel Sinclair, Deputy Chef De Cabinet, office of the President of the UN General Assembly remarked on the role of families in peace building. Fernando Vial of World Youth Alliance commented on how his family shaped and saved his youth from being carried away to unlawful activities. Catherine Panter Brick, professor of Yale University highlighted how ruined families cost to state exchequer. She presented case studies from Nepal and Afghanistan. Nirbhoy didis participation was described significant. She prayed for peace and violence free families at New Haven Green. Sreerupa Mitra Chaudhury is honorary president of the Family Federation.
