[[180260102152722]] BAR, UJC CONDEMNS SHOPIAN KILLNGS [[180260102152722]] Srinagar: In an extra ordinary meeting of the Executive Committee of the Bar Association held today on 08th of September 2013 in Sadder Court Srinagar headed by Mian Abdul Qayoom President J&K High Court Bar Association Srinagar. The act of unprovoked and unjustified firing on the innocent people of Shopian in which four civilians loss their lives was strongly condemned. In the meeting, the members were told that firstly a civilian who was traveling on motor cycle was fired at without any justification or cause by the CPRF personnel as a result of which he died on spot. Later three more persons got killed, due to the firing of CrPF personnel. When the people protested against the unprovoked and unjustified firing and innocent killings, the police and CrPF personnel once again resorted to firing in which numerous persons got injured. The members were also told that for making the musical concert a success, people were brought from outside and the locals were caged and due to the search and frisking operations the life of the local people was made miserable. It was stated that since Kashmir is disputed territory, therefore, Zubin Mehta should not have come to the valley and held a musical concert at Shalimar Gardens Srinagar. It was also stated that the move of holding the musical concert, despite terrible opposition from the people, the said move was politically motivated and was aimed at to rub salt on the wounds of Kashmiris. The Bar Association while condemning the unprovoked and unjustified firing of the crpf and the police personnel, also condemns the caging of people and holding of musical concert by Zubin Mehta at Srinagar. It requests the International Community to come forward and discharge their obligation of compelling India to give the Right of Self-determination to the people of Kashmir. The Bar Association also requests the right thinking people of India to stop its Govt. from organizing musical concerts in the valley of Kashmir and fulfill its promise, made both inside and outside the Parliament to give the Right of Self-determinat ion to the people of J&K. The Bar Association also requests the United Nation Organization to implement its resolutions in giving the people of J&K the Right of Self- determination, so that the people of South-Asia get rid of tension and fear of a nuclear warfare between the two nuclear countries of the sub-continent. In a telephonic statement to KNS Hizb spokesperson Salim Hashmi said that UJC chief and Hizb supermo Syed Salahudin condemned the Shopian incident.
