1914----About Dr. J.L. Wales and his mother, Sarah Wales of Globe.. 1914---Caesarian Section Performed Here: Is Wholly Successful. Ariz. Record. May 8, 1914---- Dr. J.L. Wales made medical history for Globe and the rest of the southwest on May 6, when, assisted by T.H. Slaughter, successfully performed a C-Section upon Mrs. H.A. Amott at the Gila County Hospital in Globe. Both woman and child were reported to be in a highly satisfactory state of health. This is the first time in the southwest that this operation has been successful.----- ****According to the Arizona Board of Health, Birth Certificate: the infant was named Florence Annie Amott. Born on May 6, 1914. Her father is a miner, named Henry J. Amott of England. Her mother is Mary Bartlett Amott of Texas, and is a housewife. ******** About Sarah E. Wales, the mother of Dr. J.L. Wales.. Her Birth: 1855 Her Death: 1921 Mrs. Sarah E. Wales 68 years of age, wife of Eli Wales and mother of Dr. J. L. Wales, prominent physician of this city, died yesterday morning at 8:30 o clock at the home of Dr. Wales after a continued illness. Although she had been ill for several months, she had gradually become worse since the death of the wife of Dr. Wales several weeks ago. Fred E. Wales, another son, has arrived in Globe from San Francisco to attend his mothers bedside, but she died soon after his arrival.
