1969: Elvis last #1 in the US. Im fascinated by the timing of this...this was released at about the same time as The Beatles Abbey Road LP, the last one chronologically recorded by them. In fact, Suspicious Minds topped the charts at the beginning of November 1969 with The Fab Four doing the same at the end of that same month...Elvis #1 tied The Beatles string of chart toppers at 17 apiece...then, just weeks later, The Beatles edged ahead with their 18th! From the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame: On November 29, 1969, the Beatles were at the top of Billboards Hot 100, earning their first two-sided Number One single with Come Together/Something. It became the Fab Fours 18th Number One single – one more than Elvis Presleys 17, which he reached on November 1 that year with Suspicious Minds.
