2, 4, 8, 16, 32 If these all happened chronologically, we can easily deduce that were seeing doubling, and understand that in 32, 16 is encoded. 16 is like a secret in 32, unlocked by understanding x2 (and thus /2). I have a very strong and deep feeling that our consciousness and our memory (which are necessarily the same) are like this more than they are like a filing cabinet full of data and methods. I *am* who and what I am because of what came before, and memory to me feels more like knowing the path and the process by which I became *now* so that I can track it back to see what *was*. The math is more complex than x2, because it was something that happened in seventh grade thats still unfolding in my consciousness, and the taste of the herb-laden olive oil on my bread yesterday, and standing in the shower in the dark a minute ago that brought me here. These are experiences that are hard to quantify, but knowing what they *feel* like I can use them as landmarks. There is one consciousness that exists *now* and in it is encoded all the experiences that created it. They must be in there even if the process is forgotten. Ah! Theres so much more, but I struggle to translate it. My art of language is failing to keep up. Locks and keys! Fractals and holograms! A formula applied to seeming noise that produces a coherent picture from it! Memories flashing into perfect clarity for an instant like dialing through the frequencies on an analog radio, to find in passing a station that defies re-acquisition!
