2 DIE IN MISHAPS, 2 DROWN IN VALLEY Srinagar, July 14 (KNS): Two persons were killed in separate road mishaps while as many drowned in Kashmir Valley, a police spokesman said here on Sunday. He said a Tipper (JK05C-1541) hit a pedestrian, Wali Mohammad Malik son-in- law of Mohammad Subhan Rather of Noorbagh Srinagar at Bongam Kunzar, resulting in his on spot death. In another accident, a Tractor turned turtle at Nowpora Kreeri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla, resulting in serious injuries to the driver, Akhter Ahmad Lone son of Nisar Ahmad of Nowpora. “He was shifted to District Hospital, Baramulla where he succumbed to his injuries,” the spokesman said. Separately, four persons were injured when a vehicle (Innova—JK02AH-1207) they were travelling in turned turtle on Highway near Neepora Qazigund in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. All the injured, who were on way from Baltal to Jammu, were shifted to district hospital Anantnag for treatment, he said, according to KNS. Meanwhile, 17-year-old, Sakib Ahmad Malik son of Abdul Rehman Malik of Cheek-i-Dar Mattan drowned while bathing in river Jehlum near Simthan Bijbehara in the Anantnag district. “Efforts are on to retrieve the body.” A 16-year-old, Adil Ahmad Kuhchay son of Mohammad Shafi of Barsoo, Awantipora drowned in river Jehlum while bathing near Barsoo Awantipora in the district, the spokesman said. Adil’s body was fished out and handed over to his relatives for last rites, he added. (KNS)
