2 Timothy 4:1-5 New Living Translation (NLT) 1 I solemnly urge you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who will someday judge the living and the dead when he comes to set up his Kingdom: 2 Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching. 3 For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will reject the truth and chase after myths. 5 But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at telling others the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you. ------- I really cant believe the clip below will actually be a show, but then again it doesnt surprise me. The verse posted above is extremely relevant right now. Although this may (will) outrage some of us, this is just further motivation for me to make sure Im prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. BUT just a few comments I want to make...Most depictions we have of Jesus today are probably (not even probably) inaccurate. Jesus was a Jew, so He probably had dark skin, dark eyes, and dark hair. This is NOT the long, blond-haired, blue-eyed, fair-skinned Jesus we see in modern images. One thing we can assume is, if it were important for us to know what He really did look like, I am sure those disciples who spent much time with Jesus (Peter, John, etc.) would be able to give an accurate description of Christ, not to mention Jesus brothers, James and Jude. My personal opinion of why I dont believe it was mentioned what Jesus looked like, is because they didnt put so much emphasis on race as we do now. What Jesus looked like really serves NO PURPOSE to us regarding what He did for us. Period. I can only assume the show was created based on the false depictions we have us Christ. I also believe it has a lot to do with the false belief that people think Christianity is the White Mans Religion. However, it saddens me that some African-Americans think that in order for Jesus to fit our culture we have to make Him cuss, be off color, and be vulgar...this is a mockery to our Savior and to me as an African American....
