2 things I am not really happy with : 1. NAPFA - All students, whether male or female, have to take this test, while in school. However, there doesnt seem to be much pressure on females in obtaining a desired grade. There is no repercussions in failing to obtain at least a silver for them, unlike their unlucky male counterparts who will get slapped with an additional 2 months of physical training programme for good old National Service if they get bronze or below. 2. IPPT (Individual Physical Proficiency Test) - All Singaporean males, before 40 & due for Reservists, have to undertake the IPPT from time to time to ensure their fitness levels stay up to standard. If they fail it, they will have to undergo remedial training to brush up. All these is done while they have work commitments & there have been cases of employers being unhappy with male employees taking time off from work to attend remedial. On the other hand, females no longer have to contend with any sort of fitness tests after NAPFA in their schooling years. They are free to do whatever they want to their health & fitness which wouldnt be under scrutiny by Big Brother. I have to clarify that I am not against females. But I feel that perhaps the government should implement some new measures to ensure that females have to keep to a certain standard of fitness too even if they do not have to carry out military operations. After all, a fit body is always desirable, and sometimes people get a tad lazy & all they need is a little push.
