2 times in my life I´ve felt racism towards my latin background or body image, and both times, someone dear to my hearth was there to have my back, and yes, still today feels great! The 1st time, it was my fist time in the USA, have to say I was pretty exited to be invited to a dorm party, then I was sitting there surrounded by white americans, and one of them, dont rember his name, asked me, How well do you speak american? Do you understand this table is plenty of beer ? - Have to say I look at this guy and said, its not American its English, and you mean the table is full of beer - This guy was pissed I put him in his place as the ignorant brat he was, my friend, stand up and said, lets go, there are better parties at this campus, and we left, she grabbed my hand we walked out that place, she took a stand and let everybody on the room know that she was not going to have bs directed at my persona.... The second time, we were clubbing down in San Petesburg, and back on those days I was proned to use oversized clothing pieces, trying to conceive my tummy, oh well it was the 90s, everything was spandex for for Christs sake! ... here I was with an overzised sweater walking and dancing in the streets, then some guy screams Holy shit thats big referring to my persona, before I could act or even say a word, this voice came out the crowd screaming, Whats your problem pal? Looks to me you are jelous this guys is partying and having a blast with all this girls? (da-yum! my friend is really a georgeous woman and her friends were all catalog models - in spandex lil dresses !!!) ... who are you with? your drunk bum *ss friends? have a blast pal! , she took my hand and moved away from the guy while his friend made a mock out of his face! Yup, it was you Teresa Balog , and yes I still remember, because the lesson you tought me was to stand up for those in need, and put stupid people in their right place, when we dont speak up, we become a part, and I never want to be a part of injustice. Thanks this life lesson!!!!!
