20-1/2 years ago, I sang at my moms wedding to Chauncey Alcott. Mom was twice widowed and had been single for about 12 years at the time. So, at the spry age of 70, she entered marriage #3. Chauncey was great for mom. He had a trailer home in Arizona where they spent winters for a number of years. A prerequisite for a happy marriage to mom was a willingness to play card games on demand, even in the middle of the night if she had trouble sleeping. Chauncey consistently obliged. Chaunceys health has been failing over the past couple of years. This week, the hospice workers have informed us that he will be gone within a week. My mom has called me every day this week and her voice has a tone of fear, desperation and loneliness to it. She is about to lose her third husband and she doesnt know what to do with herself. She feels lost. If you are a praying person, Id appreciate prayers for a peaceful home going for Chauncey and strength for my 90 year old mother. Thank you.
