20 Good Reasons to Break-Up Nigeria: The Governor General of Nigeria from 1920 – 31, Sir Hugh Clifford, described Nigeria as “a collection of independent Native States, separated from one another by great distances, by differences of history and traditions and by ethnological, racial, ethnic, political, social and religious barrier”. -There are plenty of reasons why Nigeria must break-up now. 1. Third Party Construct: So, there’s an Oba, an Emir and an Obi in a British hotel room. It sounds like the beginning of a joke but in fact it’s the starting point for a new artificial country –Nigeria, put together by White British colonial thugs without due consent of the actual members of the union or taking into consideration the feelings and cultural sensitivities of any of the people concerned. 2. Cultural/Religious Affinity: The next line of absurdly created union from the onset is the faulty fundamental ingredients that make any social contract or society work were lacking. Such a thing like religious/cultural affinity is just non-existent amongst the peoples of Nigeria. 3. Commonality of Language: It is believed that all successful unions, relationships, marriages, societies, etc are those in which members can communicate among themselves in a clear language that every party to the arrangement understands. Therefore the most important element in forming a union that works becomes the commonality of language. In Nigeria that is absent. 4. Agendas and Goals: For a relationship or union to work there must be common objectives, goals, or destiny that everyone in it must subscribe to or aspire toward. The Muslim North and the Ifa adherent West of Nigeria surely have different agendas and goals from those of Christian Igbo people. Tireless campaign since 1966 for ethnic nationalities region leaves Nigeria behind in all human indices. 5. Tolerance of Views: It is only based on when all members of the society can have a common objective will they be able to work together, trusting one another knowing that they are all headed toward the same direction even when the details of their methods and minor views differ it is still understood and rooms or provisions are made for those diversities so that no one takes up arms to kill the others. Such understanding is completely non-existent in Nigeria. No tolerance of views that are unislamic is present in Nigeria. 6. Mutual Suspicion: There is mutual suspicion amongst the different peoples of the Nigerian union and no one is even making attempt at tolerating the other. 7. Ethnically Motivated Violence: Islamic jihadist project against non-Muslim population of the failed Nigerian experiment is so overt and boiling over and it is continuous all because of hatred and intolerance. 8. Right to Life: Non-Muslim in the Hausa/Fulani’s Muslim North not only denied their right to life in genocidal act but also dispossessed of their material wealth and possessions. Also bombing and near-annihilation of the non-Ijaw ethnic group and total destruction of the physical structures of other non-Ijaw in the Niger Delta were common. In the same vein, Igbo also denied other people access to their region. 9. Population Figure: In its current form, Nigeria cannot reliably count its population without all the acrimonies and disputes from all shades of opinion, ranging from political, ethnic to religious groups because population have been, and continue to be used as a tool for deciding how many local government a state gets; how many House of representative members go to Abuja to share oil money to themselves and their cronies; and more importantly how much each state and local government gets into its “begging bowl” in the monthly oil monies sharing in Abuja, in the name of Federal allocation. 10. Corruption and Indiscipline: The real bane of Nigeria’s underdevelopment and stunted growth will persist with the size of the country, especially with the claim of entitlement to oil monies without any need for competition and productivity by subsisting ethnic nationalities. How on earth do you think that one EFCC, a single central bank and Police force will be able to monitor and regulate financial crimes and criminals across a large multiethnic country as Nigeria? The result is a poor regulation and governance across the board leading to inefficient and ineffective economy. 11. This list is endless but let’s just say that there is no compatibility and there will never be a time when there will between the Yoruba, Hausa, Fulani and the Igbo people. There is no commonality of interests as a society, let each group go their separate ways. That is wisdom and that is the only truth. adeyinkagrandson.tumblr/post/56328804968/20-good-reasons-to-break-up-nigeria
