Models will wear circus costumes, complete with snake eyes, and Rihanna and Justin Bieber will perform. But the Victorias Secret runway wasnt always the production it is today. When the show started in 1995, there was no fancy lighting and #models were just wearing underwear. The show slowly started getting fancier. In 1998, angel wings appeared on the runway. From there, it was only a matter of time before diamonds and glitter appeared. We found photos that track how the Victorias Secret show went from boring to epic. - The first Victorias Secret Fashion Show was in 1995. It took place at the Plaza Hotel. Models stuck to simple lingerie and there was no special lighting. - By 1997, Victorias Secret started featuring fancier lights in the show. The costumes also started to get more advanced, as seen below, but only for a few of the models. - But the focus was still largely on the lingerie in 1997, and outfits were relatively simple. - At the 1998 show, a few of the models wore angel wings. Thats Tyra Banks in the shot. - The 1999 show had a Greek/mystical theme with a backdrop of the mountains. Here, a model is suspended through the air. - The 2000 show was even more elaborate with a fire and ice theme. Theres Gisele Bundchen against the fire background... - In 2002, the show had its first hosts: model Heidi Klum and Sugar Ray singer Mark McGrath. - The show also featured some of the most elaborate angel wings to date. - In 2003, the models all got intricate angel wings. Famous faces including #HeidiKlum, Tyra Banks and #AdrianaLima all walked in the show. - In 2007, the Spice Girls reunited for the first time in years to perform at the show and launch a comeback tour. - In 2009, Marisa Miller went on a press tour with that years Fantasy Bra, which cost $3 million.
