200 years ago this morning (Sept. 14,1814), Francis Scott Key woke up aboard a ship looking toward Fort McHenry in Baltimore. He saw that the United States of America flag was still flying over the fort, which the British had bombarded for over a day! Inspired by this sight, Key began jotting down versus to a poem he titled The Defense of Fort McHenry. That poem would eventually become The Star-Spangled Banner! #StarSpangled200 #Lambdas
