2013 ICFL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME PREVIEW SPARTANS 7-0 SAT JUNE 8TH TRIBE 6-1 6PM AT LOWELL SCOTT MIDDLE SCHOOL Ladies and gentleman, the rematch is upon us. A game for the ages, two great teams both with championship aspirations one will succeed, one will fall short. Last meeting: The two teams met april 27th in a game that was hard fought and physical but that saw both teams repeatedly make uncharacteristic errors. The Spartans have to be kicking themselves over three first half fumbles and a dropped td pass in Tribe territory and likewise the Tribe anguish over three costly interceptions deep in Spartans territory as well as having two touchdowns called back due to penalty. In the end though a Spartan run game that ran for 158 yards behind a big, physical oline was enough to control the clock and come out victorious 20-16 Spartans keys to victory: The Spartans will look to do what they do, which is control the line of scrimmage.Offensively look for them to try and out flank the Tribe and run right at the Tribe’s athletic defense. Then when the Tribe start to creep up towards the line look for the play action. Defensively the Spartans have the luxury of having several Bigtime players. They will look to take away the run game and pressure Matt Bunch into errant throws. Alex Holtry and Steven Jackson are a great tandem at the Defensive end spot with Hayden Wright and Pat Mcintyre cleaning things up at linebacker. In the Secondary ball hawk Colt Knigge leads the way. Tribe keys to victory: The Tribe first and foremost need to execute, in the first game they did themself in with lots of mistakes. If theyre going to get it done Offensively they need to be balanced and take what the defense gives them rather than going for the homerun. It will be up to the Tribe Oline to come up big as well and keep dual threat qb Matt Bunch up right. Defensively the Tribe has to do a much better job of stopping the run, linebacker play will be key here. Gabe Moreno and Kyle Dalsoglio need to reward their dline for occupying Spartans blockers by coming up and laying the wood on Spartan backs. If the Tribe can cut those rushing yards down from 158 in the last meeting to under 100, they will be in much better shape. X-factor: The Spartans have a whole roster of guys that have won championships in this league, The Tribe, very few. How will this lack of championship pedigree effect the Tribe? A gigantic chip on their shoulder and wont be denied mentality or nerves and mistakes and an inablity to perform under the bright lights?? We shall see!
