2013 we opened Manchester Fashion Week with the project Livs World This was the brain child of Judith of #Sure Star. Performances from the #shockorelers and Aliviah wearing SidnieCo Couture ..... This is an update of her world now 14 year old Aliviah Jawando applied to the Face of JD sports competition When she uploaded her photo she was unaware that the minimum age was 16. Entering the competition Aliviah received many votes and positive comments and became part of the top 20 in the Manchester region. Aliviah was then invited to attend the casting shoot at Sound Control in Manchester and went onto to receive an email that said she had been shortlisted and was to attend the Easter shoot in London on the 28th Feb. By now her mum and family were aware of what she had achieved on her own. However, it was during a phone call to her mother to make the travel arrangements for the trip to London when her true age was discovered. On reading and realising the JD terms and conditions, I was gutted for Aliviah but also very proud that she had got so far in the competition.” In her own words Aliviah says that she was ‘shocked and excited’ when she received an email that she had been shortlisted for the shoot in London. Aliviah has always wanted to model and as a regular shopper at JD, she thought that the JD brand was more suited to what she wanted to do. Im gutted that I can no longer participate in the competition, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and many other models were ‘discovered’ at 14 and even though I have been approached by model scouts in the past, It was the JD brand that I wanted to model for.” Aliviah understands and respects that the JD Company have their strict guidelines and she still wants to be allowed to enter the competition when she is the right age. But right now she is worried and embarrassed because she doesn’t think that her friends actually believe her when she tells them that she got to the final 15!
