2014 - The Year of No Singles - Day 66 From Faith No Mores first album, We Care a Lot - 1985 Everybody! The Chuck Mosely Era! For those of you unaware of anything Faith No More previous to that fish flopping song, Faith No More actually released two albums previous to The Real Thing (the album that fish flopping song) is on, with a different lead singer, a bit of an odd bird named Chuck Mosely. However, Chuck did a whole more than just sing, in fact he actually wrote a good portion of the lyrics during his time in the band, and a few songs from a musical perspective. I myself had kind of discounted this era of the band, but after listening to both We Care a Lot and Introduce Yourself multiple times today, I can definitely say that was a huge mistake. Both albums are Faith No More to the core, regardless of whether Mosely or Mike Patton was at the helm. We Care a Lot had no singles, in fact, it was barely released, and still doesnt exist in the US as a CD (although the UK, Japan and Australia got it...go figure). Now, chances are, youve heard the title track whether you realize it or not (Dirty Jobs, Biodome), but it wasnt released as a single until it was re-recorded and released as a single on their next album, Introduce Yourself, (and later a live version featuring Patton was released as a single as well). Regardless, it was a single at SOME POINT, so it didnt get picked. Instead, I went with As The Worm Turns, which as you can see, was carried on to the later lineup as well, and features a fierce keyboard riff. Honorable mentions go to The Jungle and the instrumental Pills for Breakfast.
