The names surface, and with them comes comfort. For John Elway, and Bronco fans, just hearing the names Mike Shanahan and Gary Kubiak is a warm salve on a cold day...especially after such a bitter loss. But the Broncos need to take a hard look at football in 2015, and realize that this is a new game, and a new path is necessary. The next head coach is, in all likelihood, going to need a new QB to win a Super Bowl. While Andrew Luck was a Peyton Manning...a John Elway...a sure thing, there are also many current winning QBs in the NFL with different skillsets that are out there. Players who were passed on by many in the NFL, that are now among the best at what they do. Where is that guy? And who is the coach that can take the Broncos into the future? Odds are that coach may not yet be on the radar of most of us...but, the names of the past should remain there - in the past. Elway has done a great job running the show...but, for the first time he is no longer playing with house money. The challenge now is to see the future of the NFL, and pick the man to lead the Broncos there...AND, at the same time, help find the next QB. Todays game requires a quarterback to make dynamic plays, and threaten defenses while moving. The next Denver QB, and the next Broncos head coach will be married at the hip, and will sink or swim together. While its a team that is built to win right now, it is also time to seek new direction. Difficult times indeed.
