2014 MTD12 participant Katherine Fleming just finished 100 miles - TopicsExpress

2014 MTD12 participant Katherine Fleming just finished 100 miles at the Winter Beast of Burden (BoB) in 27:01. This was her second 100 mile finish. 2015 Winter BoB was well represented by 2014 ducklings, most of them fishing 25 mile and 50 mile courses. Where Kathys performance stands out at the BoB is that if you look at her 2014 MTD12 results - she did not have a good day by her standards - barely 36+ miles (see her race report from the previous post) and her 2014 season was marginal at the best. However it did not discourage her in the long run and her perseverance paid off with the experience that will be hard to forget. It was raining, snowing, there was sleet, there was ice and it was slippery at the 2015 Winter BoB. 100 mile course featured bone chilling headwind for 50 miles of the course. Let me put it in simple terms - weather sucked at the 2015 BoB. 100 miles is challenging in any conditions, let alone in winter conditions compliments of WNY weather. Let me share the quote she posted after todays finish Im a little brain dead I will say this - I know not everyone will understand why anyone would want to run 100 miles (I get that a lot). Its a personal journey that I cant really explain. And while it is a very personal thing, and life changing in its intensity and suffering, it has been a journey best shared with those I love. Please join me congratulating Kathy on her huge accomplishment! PS. Kathy was one of the first who signed up for 2015 MTD12.
