2014 Movie Recap: While there were some obvious big-name movies this year that did well, what I found surprising was the high number of low-budget, original IPs in the Cyberpunk/Dystopia genre that seemed to spring from nowhere and really impress. Ive noted these on the list with an asterisk* - anyone who likes good thoughtful sci-fi/technology peices, should seek this films out. Most of them did not even see a theatrical release. Heres my top-10 from this year, including films both well-known and not: 1. Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier 3. The Grand Budapest Hotel 4. Nightcrawler Movie 5. Automata* 6. Interstellar 7. Edge of Tomorrow 8. The Machine* 9. Young Ones* 10. Open Windows* A notable mention to The LEGO Movie which narrowly missed the list
