2015: Akwa Ibom Royal Fathers Endorse Udom Emmanuel As Next Governor The governorship aspiration of Mr Udom Emmanuel of the Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom State has received a boost as royal fathers in the state rose from a meeting in Uyo to give him their resounding support and endorsement as the next governor of the State. The royal fathers comprising Clan Heads and Village Heads from all the villages in the state said they were satisfied with the development in the state, but urged Mr Udom Emmanuel to surpass the achievements of Governor Akpabio when he resumes in May 2015. Speaking through the Chairman of Conference of Village Heads, Chairman of Conference of Village Eteidung Solomon Umanah, they assured that it was always traditional for all the village heads to endorse their next governor for the State. Eteidung Umanah maintained that they will mobilize their subjects to get their permanent voters cards in other to be equipped for the election of Mr Udom Emmanuel in the Governorship election. Obong Johnson Obosi who spoke on behalf of the clan heads led all the royal fathers to a prayer session in with they called on God to endorse their resolution and deliver Udom Emmanuel as their next Governor. Highlight of the occasion was a voice vote in which the royal fathers raised their staff of offices in affirmation of the emergence of Udom Emmanuel as governor, as well as the emergence of Governor Godswill Akpabio, Mr Bassey Albert and Chief Nelson Effiong as Senators. Mr Udom Emmanuel said he came to introduce himself to his fathers and promised that he will always meet with them to seek their wise counsels in the affairs of the state. Udom assured that he was going to build on the foundation laid by Governor Akpabio, and used the forum to unfold his programmes in Agriculture, Education, Manpower development and Industrialisation. He urged them to ensure that their subjects of voting age get their voters’ cards and advised them to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan and other PDP candidates in the general elections. Also speaking at the occasion, his running mate Mr Moses Ekpo also assured the traditional rulers that Udom is a trustworthy administrator who is sincere about the wellbeing of people of the state, hence the need to support him. The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Chief Uwem Ita Etuk lauded Udom Emmanuel for his humility in meeting with traditional rulers, describing it as respect for the traditional institution. While urging them to continue to maintain the peace in their domains, Etuk assured that Udom held the ace to sustaining what Governor Akpabio has done for monarchs in the State. Present at the occasion were the Director General of the Campaign organization, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga, Senator Emmanuel Ibokessien, Chief Nduese Essien, Obong Bassey Albert among others who all confirmed that Udom has all that is required to take Akwa Ibom State to the next level.
