2015: Peace Moves to Reconcile Wada, Audu, Echocho Fails KOGITE NO COMMENTS Political gladiators in Kogi State are soon to return to the drawing board to begin another round of permutation with the failed reconciliation move between Captain Idris Wada, Kogi State Governor and his political arch rival, Alhaji Jibrin Isah Echocho, the winner of January 2011 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primaries. Similarly, the reconciliation between Wada and Prince Abubakar Audu seems to have hit the rock as the peace suggestion made by His Royal Majesty, Ameh Oboni, the Attah Igala for Audu to decamp to PDP and get Wada’s support to run for the Senatorial seat in 2015, allegedly did not get Alhaji Ibrahim Idris (Ibro) support. It will be recalled that Wada as governor made history by becoming the most litigated governor. He was dragged to court by Echocho, Audu and other politicians. Many saw the over fifteen court cases before consolidation as a distraction. Though the court has dispensed with thirteen of the cases, two are still pending. It was in the wisdom of stakeholders and leaders of the Eastern Senatorial district to initiate reconciliation moves to allow for peace to reign. Success was however made by the Attah Igala in bringing the gladiators to a round table where issues were resolved. Part of the resolution was to carry along Echocho in the scheme of things. He was expected, according to a source, to nominate some commissioners in the newly constituted cabinet and offer him juicy contract. But unfortunately, the efforts seem to have failed as the former flag-bearer of the PDP in the aborted 2011 general election is now alleged to have picked the All Progressive Congress (APC) membership card and has been endorsed as the party’s governorship flag-bearer in 2016. For Audu, the effort to contain failed as Ibrahim Idris (Ibro) thwarted the suggestion by the traditional ruler on the argument that Audu is not a man that can be caged when he has political power. Thus, Audu who is seen to be close to Wada is dusting his political machines and may likely run for the governorship in 2016. He seem not disposed to the senate under APC as Attai Aidoko, the incumbent senator, having returned to the PDP on the instruction of the presidency was promised a return ticket alongside an alleged huge sum of money to prosecute his mandate. It is believed that Ibrahim Idris (Ibro), also acting the presidency script, is more disposed to Senator Aidoko because of Dr Ahmadu Ali who helped him retrieve his mandate from Dangana through the court. For some time, Audu has been receiving bashing over his romance with the PDP led administration in the state. But with the recent development, he has made a u-turn to take his rightful place in the scheme of things in the APC and possibly call the shot as he has always done. The movement of Echocho to APC did not come to many as a surprise. Over the last two years, is foot soldiers, even while reconciliation was on-going, had left the PDP.
