22 Aug 13: Friday night special "Ah di..do you have 10 mins to spare?" And that started the conversation. I was at tiong bahru mrt when someone called out to me. I looked up from my phone and saw a person on a wheelchair trying to get my attention. He asked if I could help him get to a place nearby and smiled while apologising if it was too much trouble for me. While traveling, I guess my investigator mode activated and casually asked him if he was cared for by social workers. He laughed and told me that he does not require financial assistance. He told me that while he cant get his dream job of being an air steward, he can still survive selling tissues. He added that Singaporeans are generally quite generous in helping. We had a good conversation with him sharing his past and family. He was quite surprised that I knew my way around tiong bahru quite well (I grew up in tb as my pri sch was in river valley :p) Before we parted ways, he asked me to drop him a message as he keeps a list of those that helped him before. He then showed me the long list of messages he had (: Victor, a name symbolizing victory and resilience. Glad to have made a new friend this Friday night (:
