25/10/13 12:17 - Structural Fire, Elliminyt Incident Controller: Lieutenant M Gunning Fire crews were called to a home in Elliminyt at 12:17pm today for a smell of smoke inside the house. Using Breathing Apparatus, fire crews entered the property to investigate the cause of the smoke as there was no sign of fire. The smell appeared to originate from wiring in light fittings that had been affected by mice chewing on the wires. Fire crews continued using Breathing Apparatus and a Gas Detector to monitor potentially fatal gases in the house, ensuring they returned to a safe level. Two appliances and 6 fire fighters were on scene for approximately 40 minutes. Even small fires with little smoke can be deadly. Always dial 000 if you think you smell something burning in the house and are unsure of the cause.
