25 years ago today -- I was at Serramonte with a good friend, Francis Moriguchi, when the ground shook and the tiles fell from the ceiling. Frank and I moved people outside to the parking lot away from buildings. We calmed the frantic people and told them yes, it was a big one, now our families need us. Go home calmly, try not to use the freeways if they are elevated but get to your families. I drove home and made sure Gabie was okay then went out and directed traffic at the Junipero Serra/19th Avenue intersection. Gabe consoled some San Francisco State students traumatized by the quake. I have the best wife on earth!
