28 TOP TRAINING TIPS from JJ Coach 1. Choose your races carefully 2. Always check with work / family / partner and diary before entering events 3. Get support in place before starting training. Think bike service, coaching or training plan, physio, bike fit etc. 4. Treat every race as an adventure, have fun training and enjoy the racing 5. Set challenging but realistic goals, Have more than 1 goal for each race and be absolutely clear on what you want achieve 6. Gather all the knowledge you can about your race. Meticulously plan your training and racing 7. Consistency is key to success; make it a priority to stay healthy and uninjured 8. Always have a training plan. There are many ways to achieve the fitness you desire, pick on and stick to it for 6 months. 9. Use the services of a coach 10. Rest and relaxation are as much a part of training as intervals and thresholds. Have 1 day a week off the bike 11. work on your weaknesses 12. Don’t ignore strength and conditioning all year round 13. Stretch regurlarly and get a massage ever 1-2 weeks 14. Nutrition is important, but don’t get to hung up on it. Remember, variety, moderation and wholesomness. 15. In preparation, don’t focus on the race for too long; it can be destructive 16.
