287/365 – “Night Walking” nr.14 Testaccio, Rome, Faculty of Architecture (Ex-Slaughterhouse). Back at Testaccio, back at the ex-slaughterhouse, back at the faculty of architecture. The fact that the young students live in the same places and move along the same paths that the going-to-be-slaughtered animals used to is a creepy but effective metaphor of the current youth unemployment in Italy. These guys and girls spend the best part of their life struggling between these rooms, being tested and stressed by old professors (new positions are so rarely opened...), with their families paying important money for their education and for their life (since they study, they dont work). With the current 40.1% of youth unemployment these kids really seem animals just waiting to be slaughtered, and the faculty is the sinister scenography of this massacre.
