I would like to send out a special thanks to Lyle Lovett this afternoon. ALL day, like I mean since my morning shower up until about 10 minutes ago, Ive had Sweet Caroline in my head. Now dont get me wrong, Sweet Caroline is a classic song in its own right for sure. I mean, the reason its in my head in the first place is because the new band is learning it and I was going over lyrics for tomorrows rehearsal. I am definitely looking forward to performing it because I know every dance floor we play to will be packed and the crowd will yell BA BA BAAAAA! in the chorus and a grand time will be had by all... But that doesnt mean I need this already super repetitive song repeating in my head for 6 hours. Relentlessly. Redundantly. Unflinchingly. Unwaveringly. So I thank you Mister Lovett, my Jean Chrétien-faced, Cosmo Kramer-haired angel of mercy, for writing the magnificent song If I Had a Boat so many moons ago, so that one chilly Friday afternoon in 2014 it would enter my brain and slay the mighty dragon Neil Diamond unleashed on the world. Your song is like a gentle, soothing balm on my Sweet Caroline scorched cerebral cortex. I am forever grateful. Seriously though dude, what was up with that Julia Roberts thing? Woof woof.
