29TH SEPTEMBER; THE DAY OF HER BIRTH! On this day, way back in time, about 8 months after the end of the Biafran War, some 44 years ago, a black beauty was born. She grew to become a puzzle to different persons at different times in different directions. 44 years after, this enigma of some sort had recorded great feats and had carved a niche for herself; these are substantially evident in her unparalleled altruism, legendary philanthropism and pragmatic welfarism. Testimonies from many beneficiaries of these isms, are deluge and overwhelming. The records are unprecedented in the annals of our clime. Her philosophy of life is in tandem with the maxim of Mother Theresa: Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing. A woman, whose smiles are always accompanied by largesse as inspired by the wise words of Nelson Mandella: We must use time wisely and forever realize that the time is always ripe to do right. In her dealings with her fellow human beings, she harkens to the advise of Theodore Roosevelt: Do what you can, with what you have, where you are. Her personal sacrifices know no bounds, yet she expects no reciprocity. She wants change. She sees the world in a state of fux (omnia flunt) and demonstrates she is a firm believer in Mahatma Gandhis postulation: Be the change you wish to see in the world. She is also an incurable optimist, always believing, with absolute certainty that after darkness, comes a glorious dawn. In her trial times, she was visited by vicissitude. In the face of this trajectory, she remained resolute; bent, but not broken. As the axiom of Michael Jordan: My attitude is that if you push me towards something that you think is a weakness, then I will turn that perceived weakness into a strength, reverberated in her serene mind, she became stronger like the rock of jibralter and converted her obstacles into stepping stones. Today, the results are palpable. This icon is a study in perseverance and a paragon of excellence. Where others sit in limbo like a bird, she makes use of her Midas touch. Where others live in egocentric opulence, she enjoys altruistic propensity. Today is her birthday. The celeberation didnt start with a novelty match. It actually started with a contest on Afikpo Peoples page sponsored by these celebrity wherein the winner clinched the sum of N10,000 and about six other runners-up got N5,000 each. Indeed, the spirit of giving is inborn; it runs in the veins. Tonight, the ancient city of Afikpo stands-still as we bite spoons and clink glasses at the famous Omakaejali Park, in boisterous celebration of 44 eventful years of an amazon, who had proven in all ramifications to be a perfect gift to humanity.
