2DAYS TO PRIMARY, KORO LAMENTS Ahead of Mondays Governorship - TopicsExpress

2DAYS TO PRIMARY, KORO LAMENTS Ahead of Mondays Governorship Primaries of the PDP in Lagos, the former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, is reportedly bemoaning his fate. While his arch-rival, Jimi Agbaje, has maintained a dignified silence, quietly putting finishing touches to his deals with the Partys Delegates, Koro continues his smear campaign and grandstanding. Despite his serial boasts and sponsored write-ups, as revealed in todays Nigerian Tribune, which claims that he possesses the winning formula, Obanikoro still complains of grand plans by two foremost leaders of PDP in the State to frustrate his ambition and ensure Agbaje clinches the ticket on Monday. “As a matter of fact and you can quote me on this, I do not have business with Agbaje,..As far as this election is concerned, I am contesting against Bode George and Senator Ogunlewe,” he was quoted to have said. My worry is, what exactly does Koro want? It would be recalled that following the Partys Congress held on Saturday, November 8, Koro petitioned the national leadership of the Party complaining about some observed lapses and irregularities. He prayed the rejection of the results arising therefrom; a prayer which was granted by Abuja. Consequently, a new Congress was ordered across the 245 Wards of the State for Monday, November 17. At the end of the rescheduled Congress, the former High Commissioner to Ghana openly expressed satisfaction at its conduct and outcome. This fact still subsists on his Facebook Page. So why is he still crying wolf and alleging grand plots to ensure his defeat? Does he hope to be delivered the Governorship ticket on a platter of gold by those he loves to hate? Common Koro, you are really falling my hands big time in recent times. I am yet to overcome the shock of the drama you put up at your Walk With Me Rally last Tuesday. I still cant understand the need for that rally when you had not been given the Partys ticket as Candidate. More baffling was the open drama with your wife, Morufa. I wonder what political points you hoped to score by openly feeding her and raining crisp Naira notes on her infront of Lagosians. Ive had enough of your recent uncoordinated actions. Please dont add more to my disappointments. Haba! You are supposed to be a big political figure na! Back to the Delegate Lists. Whilst Koro was satisfied with the renewed lists, there were enough grounds for Agbaje to protest. In Ikorodu, for instance, I can confirm that no Congress took place in the 19 Wards of the Local Government Area on November 17. But Koro, in league with some leaders in the Local Government, manufactured a list which was approved by the Panel sent from Abuja. It was surprising how Agbaje took the matter in his stride and calmed the displaced former Delegates not to bother. Surprisingly and in contrast to what the Nigerian Tribune reported today, the two Assembly Candidates that won the last Saturdays Primaries are those loyal to Jimi Agbaje. They are: Kazeem Abatan for Ikorodu Constituency 1 and Sesan Akeju for Constituency 2. The tabloid continued its gutter journalism when it deliberately left out Lagos Island from the list of Local Governments in Lagos State. The newspaper exposed itself to further ridicule when it named INEC as the source of its verdict that Koros camp won 24 Assembly tickets as against Agbajes 14! Those who contested the Assembly tickets did so in their personal names and there was no how INEC could have possibly linked them to any of the two gladiators. Is this the strategy to win Mondays Governorship Primaries? By feeding the public with lies? Has Koro forgotten that this is Delegates Election and not General Election? Anyway, today through tomorrow offers another opportunity for the two camps to prove their mettle and holds on the Party in the State before the big one on Monday; its the House House of Representatives and Senate Primaries respectively. My advise to Obanikoro is to either beat a tactical withdrawal now or face the battle squarely. I believe he must have learnt some military manouverings during his 7-month stay in the Defence Ministry. If added to his supposed political astuteness, then his complaints are uneccessary. They only lend credence to insinuations that he has no clout to win the State for PDP.
