2nd Dallas hospital employee testing positive. The hospital is now saying that the index patient sat in the waiting room for several hours exposing the entire ER waiting room while actively having a fever. It took several additional hours to isolate him. Nurses and other HCP s did not get decontaminated after caring for 1st patient, or have the proper PPE for about 3 days after his admission. The scope of exposure has grown exponentially. Why are we screening these patients inside the ER or after the medics are already on site with the patient? 911 dispatchers can ask 2 questions regarding traveling OVER THE PHONE if a patient is calling in with complaints fever, vomitting, or diarrhea. If someone shows up at the ER with those symptoms, someone in proper PPE should meet them outside and ask questions regarding traveling. But nope. Lets have them come on in or send or medics to their home where they could be exposed to several family members with it. Reduce the risk of exposure as much as possible every single time!
